I ran the Comment section of the Jewish Chronicle from July 2013 to September 2014. I was responsible for the weekly commissioning and editing of four regular columns from a sequence of rota columnists, and for the commissioning, generating and editing of four additional columns from outside contributors.
I also commissioned and edited a full-page essay which frequently marked anniversaries inside and outside the Jewish community. Across all these disciplines, together with editing and publishing the paper’s letters, I managed the production calendar for the columnists, co-ordinating with them on the publication dates of their copy, and working with the art department in displaying the essay to its best advantage.
Among the national broadsheet journalists whose columns I edited were David Aaronovitch, Daniel Finkelstein, Oliver Kamm, Jonathan Freedland and Melanie Phillips.
