Jason Silver Feb 2018 for Jewish News
A pro-Israel activist from east London, who was involved in a major confrontation at last summer’s PalExpo event, died suddenly last week and was buried at Waltham Forest cemetery on Sunday.
Chiropodist Jason Silver, who ran the Silver Podiatry practice in Loughton, Essex, ran foul of the PalExpo organisers after he had spent time at the event, billed as a celebration of Palestinian life and culture. Mr Silver ran into trouble when he put on a kippa after spending two hours visiting stalls and attending lectures. He was asked to leave but no explanation was given for his ejection and the police were called.
Mr Silver complained to the police about his treatment — and filmed his argument with the PalExpo organisers — but he did not succeed in resolving the issue.
Last month Mr Silver’s name appeared on an anti-Israel blog as one of the “Gang of 31 Zionists Whose Purpose is to Disrupt Palestinian Events in London”. He was identified as No.14 on the list and the website of his chiropody practice, together with a picture of him at PalExpo, was included. The reference to Mr Silver has now been removed from the blog.
